Rock Paint

The Timbisha Tribe of Native Americans refer to Death Valley as "Tumpisa", which means "Rock Paint". The valley is full of rock faces with pastel colors, which come to life when they catch the evening rays. This shot, taken at Zabriskie Point, picks up the colorful hues as the sun was setting.
